The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Prospect Research Analyst to conduct thorough research analysis to identify potential donors to the Heersink School of Medicine (HSOM). This team member will be responsible for identifying and researching individuals from various HSOM constituencies that include alumni, existing/potential donors, and grateful patients who may be interested in funding various clinical and research initiatives that align with their excellent patient experience. This candidate will work closely with the HSOM fundraising team to screen, validate lists, and prepare prospect profiles according to ethical guidelines, and will serve as a central support informational resource for the HSOM.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough proactive and reactive research, following HIPAA guidelines, on alumni, existing, potential donors, and grateful patients of the UAB Health System. Provides detailed analysis on capacity and assigns appropriate capacity ratings that will be used for solicitations.
- Produces a variety of comprehensive reports, including but not limited to, profile briefs, and preliminary and full profiles that will be distributed to university leadership, development officers, UAB faculty, and clinical staff.
- Assists in assuring the accuracy and integrity of donor and prospect information based on research findings, staff assignments, ratings, and proposal data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- This position will report to the Director of Prospect Research and Management.
Annual Salary Range: $43,890 - $44,000
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of one year of experience in conducting prospect research for nonprofit development purposes, preferably in a healthcare or higher education environment
- Discretion in working with highly confidential information and operating according to HIPAA guidelines
- Ability to prioritize tasks, adjust priorities as needed, and monitor and maintain multiple tasks simultaneously with quick turnaround
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of one year of experience in using online information resources
- Experience with tools such as Lexis Nexis for Development Professionals, Edgar, Foundation Directory, Alumni Finder, GuideStar, or other standard prospect research databases
- Experience with donor screening services and software, preferably Donor Search
- Experience with constituent relationship management systems, preferably Ellucian CRM Advance
- Familiarity with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (apra)
- Statement of Ethics and Prospect Research Skills Set
