Job Description - PROGRAM MANAGER I (T224299) PROGRAM MANAGER I - (T224299) Position Summary:
Responsible for administratively managing a University department under the general direction of a functional Program Director or under the auspices of a Program Advising Committee and according to an established program plan. May participate in the development of program objectives and is responsible for achieving objectives within defined parameters set by University and/or department policies and procedures or technical principles. May require fiscal management of grants and other funds. May manage multiple programs. Requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives established in the program plan. May supervise staff as needed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Education (50%) In support of the department's non-resident education programs, provide central oversight, support, direction, and coordinated development and implementation of educational opportunities related to the Department of Neurosurgery's educational mission. Includes program management for: Medical Student trainees, Graduate Students, Post-Doctoral Researchers, non-ACGME clinical fellowships, Voluntary Observership trainees, and Visiting Scientist Researchers.
- Department Education Activities: Coordinate Continuing Medical Education CME for the Department o Provide oversight and direction of CME activities for the Department's research education activities Assist Faculty who Teach UAB Courses Accurately maintain the Department's record of all courses taught by Department faculty to reconcile with annual reports. Assist faculty and/or faculty assistants with course lecture materials timelines and requirements, as may be needed. Coordinate Clinical Fellowship programs for the Department o Assist faculty with grant applications/industry funding for fellowship to offset fellow program costs o Assist (adult) faculty with maintenance of CAST, NREF, etc. fellowship initial and subsequent accreditation Assist (adult) with fellow interview, hire and onboarding Connect/oversee (pediatric) faculty and pediatric division staff re: maintenance of its pediatric fellowship accreditation, interview, hire and onboarding processes. Other tasks related to Clinical Fellowship program coordination and record-keeping for the Department. Coordinate Mentoring Assist with the pairing, tracking and report out of faculty mentors for trainees. Coordinate and assist Dept HR with Trainees Visiting Scientists Coordinate and assist Dept HR, and international office if appropriate, with trainees moving in/out of the Department's training programs (other than residency program) Coordinate Med Student Trainee Voluntary Observership trainee opportunities/activities in the Department Professional Development for All Program Coordinate with Department leadership to plan and implement professional development education for all 2-3x per year.Committee Services Interact with the School of Medicine, Graduate Medical Education Office, and other institutional educational and administrative leaders to promote research education programs and initiatives.
- CNBCI Center Admin (50%) Administrative support of daily administrative activities and duties of the Director of the Department of Neurosurgery's CNBCI University-Wide Center Administrative support of short term and long-term goals resulting in the CNBCI's growth, progress and success Point of contact for the center Maintain center's website content and updates Event coordination for Center events and education, e.g. Symposia, fundraising events Accounts payable and receivable for the center Scheduling center director trips/guests to the center Travel coordination for center leaders including submitting reimbursements Keep communicating the center's calendar Working with neuroengineering program administrator on training requirements Helping draft and submit center reports, e.g., annual progress reports
- Other Duties as may be assigned
Salary Range: $43,890 - $70,000 Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
