The University of Alabama at Birmingham UAB is seeking a PROGRAM MANAGER II to be responsible for administratively managing academic affairs in the School of Engineering under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Programs. The successful candidate will participate in the development of academic affairs objectives and is responsible for achieving objectives within defined parameters set by university and school policies and procedures. Requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Academic Catalog: ensures accuracy, timely, and complete updating of undergraduate and graduate catalog entries for each department, degree program and Dean's Office. Serves as an ad hoc member on the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs Committees and Academic Affairs Committee. Accreditation: provides support to the School ABET Coordinator by keeping programs organized and on track with the ABET cycle. Ensures strong coordination between school and department ABET activities, especially as it related to the 2 years before a ABET visit. Provides support to the associate deans for SACSCOC accreditation. Serves as an ad hoc member on the Quality Assessment Committee. Manages instructor credentialing requests by transmitting requests to Undergraduate or Graduate Programs Committee chair and following up to ensure timely processing. Maintains a database of all credentialed instructors, including any justifications.
2. Course Schedule: Coordinates all engineering course offerings by working with department chairs and program directors to ensure desired course offerings are scheduled at times to avoid conflicts with courses both internal and external to the SOE. Enters course offerings in Banner. Works with departments to manage changes precipitated by enrollment or just in time requests for course additions/deletions.
3. Course Evaluations: Coordinates with departments and faculty to set up online course evaluations (course selection, faculty information forms, addition of program-specific questions). Communicates response rates to leadership and sends reminders to students to complete the evaluations. Compiles results for leadership and instructors. Report Preparation: utilizes BlazerNET/Banner and coordinates with departments and Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis to prepare academic-related reports, including but not limited to American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) College Profiles, US News and World Report, eligibility for honors designations/awards/scholarships, course ineligibility, student retention, and others as requested. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned for the success of the department, the school, and the university.
4. Neuroengineering PhD Program Administrator: Develop marketing materials and program handbook. Respond to information requests. Participate in admissions process (application review, interview, etc.). Track student progress; communicate with students and faculty regarding needed materials, forms, deadlines, etc. Coordinate committees and meetings. Enter HR and Financial documents for hiring, ending assignment, paying stipends, and paying tuition.
