The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a MOBILE UNIT NURSE CLINICIAN depending on location, to either assume nursing leadership responsibilities on the mobile health unit, demonstrating a mastery of clinical skills under the general supervision of the Associate Dean for Clinical and Global Partnerships (Project Director), Assistant Dean for Clinical and Community Programs, and Director of Care Delivery in charge of a project and collaborate with the Program Manager and Nurse Practitioner, as needed. To provide nursing care to an underserved population of patients (, requiring specialized knowledge gained through formal education and experience in maternal and child health. To plan, implement and assess individual nursing care plans or assigned mobile health unit protocols, establish priorities, assign and assist nursing and ancillary personnel, orient new staff, oversee point-of-care and/or laboratory functions, and communicate policy within established guidelines. To travel and work up to 100% of the time in the mobile health unit service areas.
Responsibilities:
1. Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare continuum.
2. Demonstrates commitment to meeting the learning needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient outcomes. Responsible for the management of all clinical activities and operations of the mobile health unit, including clinical care (e.g., organizing work/patient flow), oversight of quality improvement projects, and oversight of quality assurance.
3. Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues.
4. Demonstrates respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines and participates as an effective member of the patient care team to formulate an integrated approach to care.

6. Assumes the proper training and clinical competencies of clinical employees and assure clinic compliance with internal and external guidelines affecting patient care.
7. Facilitates compliance relative to University, School of Nursing, and sponsor policies, Office of Research and Scholarship within the School of Nursing and University policies and procedures.
8. Ethical conduct is a fundamental expectation for every UAB community member. All employees must abide by the standards of behavior outlined in the UAB Enterprise Code of Conduct. Upon hire new employees are required to attest to the Code by completing the online training that is assigned to them. Behaviors inconsistent with the Code may result in appropriate consequences.
