RESEARCH SCIENTIST

This position will work with the PI, postdocs, graduate students, technicians, and other labs/facilities to accomplish research goals in molecular biology and microbial infection. Our lab uses a variety of biochemical, cell biology, and molecular techniques to answer important questions in the field of microbiology; focusing on, but not limited to, the Gram-positive pathogen Streptococcus pneumoniae and Gram-negative pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. We are especially interested in how bacteria sense their host environment and rearrange their metabolism to thrive and cause infection. Although not required, ideally, we are interested in someone with experience in murine infection models, with an emphasis on S. pneumoniae colonization and infection.

- Conducts advanced studies in a specific field, applying specialized knowledge to drive research projects.
- Involves data analysis, interpretation of results, and contribution to scientific literature.
- Requires collaboration with peers and adherence to established protocols, with moderate autonomy and responsibility for project deliverables.
- Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
- Maintain current knowledge in the field of microbiology and immunology
- Lead research projects and teams when necessary
- Present research findings at conferences and meetings
- Supervise research assistants and postdoctoral fellows
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Postdoctoral research experience and strong record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Salary Range: $70,426 - $75,000
