Under general supervision, performs research, writing, editing, and production tasks. Prepares publication(s) for printing; coordinates design, content, layout, publication and distribution of newsletters, magazines, video and informational/promotional materials. Proofs copy and approves photography, illustrations and graphics. Obtains client and printer concurrence. Provides technical and topical consultation. Produces audio, video and broadcast media materials. Maintains master information files and databases. Assists in identifying potential markets and promoting department services and capabilities. Makes presentations as required. Assists with design and production of special assignments.
Supports the marketing and communications needs of the university by creating engaging, accurate, and audience-focused content. This position involves crafting compelling narratives for a variety of platforms that may include newsletters, web, social media, email, print materials, and internal communications. The writer will collaborate with stakeholders across departments to ensure consistency in messaging and alignment with the university’s strategic goals and brand guidelines.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinates and produces student newsletter; supports production of faculty and staff newsletter
- Drafts institutional messaging and other content for internal and external audiences
- Supports the efforts of the Marketing & Communications content team, including proofreading with an eye for grammar, punctuation, and style
- Assists with requests for publicity from units across campus.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Ideal candidates will possess engaging professional writing skills with an acute attention to detail, as well as a demonstrated proficiency with time management and teamwork. Familiarity with email or web content management systems a plus.
Salary Range: $47,665 - $49,500
