Job Title 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Urology Chair Office, is seeking a Researcher IV.

General Responsibilities

• Working with a high degree of independence, to oversee projects within the laboratory and to assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of lab activities.
• To collect, enter, summarize, analyze and interpret data.
• To contribute significantly to the planning/design of studies and to help develop long or short-term goals.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Aid in the progression of a strong and well-funded research program focused on diet, immunity, and kidney stone disease.
2. Conduct basic science, translational, and clinical research.
3. Lead animal program as well as perform animal surgeries.
4. Proficient with data management software.
5. Data collection, analysis, and interpretation using established procedures.
6. Prepare reports/data in the prescribed format.
7. Aid in the training of trainees and other research staff.
8. Maintain and order lab supplies as needed.
9. Write and edit manuscripts and abstracts as needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range:   $47,486.40 - $56,000

Qualifications

Doctorate in a related field OR Master's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Bachelor s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

• Degree in Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Health Professions, Statistics, Math, Biochemistry.
• Previous experience in researcher roles, worked in animal labs, data analysis, and manuscript writing.
• Experience with scientific research by dealing with mice and handling urine.
